Why the Zennco Super Motard YB125?
Having ridden a Yamaha DT125 in the late 1980's and passing my motorbike test, I was smitten with the off/on roader. Due to the ever demanding feeling of wanting to re-live that open-road freedom and fun that the humble motorbike has to offer, I finally succumbed to rewinding back to my youth once again in August 2009 by the acquisition of my very own Chinese Super Motard - the Zennco YB125! The price was a bargain, so that was a hot date I couldn't walk away from!
Motard and Super Motard bikes have always been popular in Europe, but only recently has this style gained popularity in the UK, led by models from Aprilia and KTM. Excellent for green laning or cutting through commuter traffic.
The beauty of this Motard is the convergence of road going tyres and brakes with the high seating position, light-weight, long travel suspension and powerful, torquey 125cc engine of an off-roader. The Zennco YB125 offers very stylish looks for an unbelievable low price, why buy a moped when you can get this for the same amount of cash??!!
Chinese manufacturer CQ Loncin Holdings Ltd build most of the Zennco in China before exporting worldwide to dealers, who put the finishing touches to the final assembly. They have also cloned the 4-stroke Honda CG125 engine and carburetor to put on this Super Motard, one of the most reliable and hard wearing engines the Japanese have made to date.
