At last, the temperature is actually above freezing, which gives me a good opportunity to give the bike a good clean and check for rust, wear and tear and to make any adjustments.
The old enemy of rust is rearing it's ugly head all-be-it only on the weld seams on the rear foot pegs and swing arm so far. Nothing that a bit of KURUST won't fix!
HAMMERITE KURUST (available from Halfords) simply brushes on as a liquid and stops rust by chemically changing it from an oxide to a stable compound. It can be touched up after 15 minutes with no need for primer.
Next thing to do was to adjust the chain as it was rattling a bit when changing gear up and down, indicating it was too slack! Check out how to do this in the 'Workshop' section on this website.
Finally, go round all the nuts with a smear of grease and all is done!
